Friday Five: Orgasmic Yoga

Take 5 minutes for 5 tips to learn how to do an Orgasmic Yoga practice at home. CAUTION! Explosive pleasure may occur ;)

  1. Yogasm

Orgasmic Yoga stems from Shakti yoga, which celebrates divine feminine power. OYoga classes were created by Pslam Isadora, former sex therapist and yoga teacher who helped “women unleash their inner sex goddess through a unique mix of yoga, belly dance, and burlesque.” — Carrie Borzillo, I Tried Orgasmic Yoga, And Here's What Happened

Anyone can try this practice. Isadora is only one of many practitioners who create sessions involving breathwork, setting intentions, sensual movements, touch and movement exercises to help stimulate more orgasmic pleasure.

“The main goal of orgasmic yoga is to stimulate sexual energy and become sexually empowered. People also have had orgasms while doing orgasmic yoga, though that’s not the first goal,” explains Isadora.

2. Bliss Breath

Begin by igniting your sexual energy by drawing breath up from your pelvic floor. Take deep, slow inhales through your nose, pulling air into the back of your throat, what Isadora called “Sexy Darth Vader breath.” This technique builds heat in your body.

3. Kegel Care

Add in Kegel pumps with your breathwork, keeping your eyes closed to focus on the movement. Besides activating your sexual energy centers, “Kegel exercises strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, which support the uterus, bladder, small intestine and rectum.” — Mayo Clinic, Kegel exercises: A how-to guide for women.

If you aren’t able to do Kegels, try doing small pelvic thrusts using the muscles of your hips, glutes and pelvis.

4. Sensual Movement

While continuing the Kegels, start to add feather-like touch and micro hip movements.

“[I started to feel juicy] Running our fingertips up and down the body, tilting our heads back to let our long hair tickle the skin of our backs, and swiveling our hips in sexy little circles.”

5. Asanas for Better Sex

Isadora’s class flows through common asanas (poses) with a sexy spin. Here are some ideas you can try:

Bridge Pose
Laying on your back with knees bent, slowly lift your hips to the sky, pressing into your feet for support. Add hip thrusts and pumps.

Side Plank Tree Pose
Start in plank position, then slowly shift weight onto the left side of the body and open your chest toward the right. Lift up from your side abdomen and gaze toward your right hand. If you feel strong here, you can lift your right leg and rest your foot on your left inner thigh for the full tree post expression.

“One of the most compelling benefits of this pose is that it stimulates the reproductive organs and beats stress and fatigue.”

Bow pose

Lie on your stomach and bend your knees behind you, lifting your chest to gently grab your ankles. Press your feet into your palms to help expand your collarbone and elevate your body off the ground.

This pose is known to help get you to better orgasms “because it rushes the blood to your genital area, and boosts your libido.” — Geetika Sachdev, 3 yoga poses that can help you have better sex.
