Friday Five: Rituals for Life
Anything we do can be crafted into a ritual, from our morning workout to masturbating. Rituals are guided by intention, love and mindfulness.
Keep reading for 5 ideas to celebrate your body with simple rituals.
Gratitude
Add a gratitude ritual to your morning routine. Do something that signals the beginning of the ritual—ringing a bell, playing music, lighting incense—and then speak aloud 3-5 things, people, or opportunities, that you’re grateful for.
Being grateful also helps us connect to something larger than ourselves—that being nature, other people, our community, or even a deity.
“In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness, help[ing] people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.”

2. Self-Pleasure
Create a sacred space and prepare everything you need beforehand, so there’s no need to interrupt your sexy flow.
It’s vital to set an intention for your pleasure practice before beginning, whether to orgasm or simply explore with a new toy; this can help relieve any pressure from experiences that aren’t naturally occurring.
3. Journaling
Make a nightly journaling routine to reflect on the day and plan for the next one.
Light a candle, find a notebook that feels special and peel back your layers.

4. Mirror Work
How often do you look at your body in the mirror with gentle thoughts and words in your mind? Getting in the habit of looking at yourself in the mirror more often—really staring—can be a transformative ritual of self-acceptance.
In a world where how we look becomes part of the economic system and where we are bombarded with so many messages about how we should look, trying mirror work can be freeing. Mirror work allows us to connect to our bodies in a more personal way, away from the background noise of external expectations.
5. Full Moon Inspo
The full moon is a perfect signal for a monthly energetic check-in ritual.
"Observing a full moon in the darkness is something that can take our breath away. It pulls on our feelings in the same magnetic way that it gathers the ocean to its bosom. It engages our imagination like a giant night-light, glowing and protecting us while we sleep."
“This phase represents completion, fertility, abundance, and transformation [...] Because the moon is directly opposite the sun during this phase, it can also be a time of friction, polarity, and more-intense emotional energy. Everything is in full illumination, which also means it’s a good time to look honestly at the full spectrum of what is or is not working for you,” as mentioned in goop.
The moon illuminates the night, so take it outside and light a bonfire! Reflect on your experiences and emotions from the previous weeks, and speak or write your goals for the ones to come. You can write out anything negative that you maybe want to release and burn it in the fire!
You can apply this to your sex life. Ask yourself:
Am I communicating when something is not working for me in bed?
Do I feel fulfilled in my sex life? Why? What do I need to do to have a pleasurable sex life?
To me, what has pleasure been connected with this past month? (i.e., love, lust, connection, etc.)
What do I want my sex life to be like?
